It is nice to be a farm girl!

After story time at the Library, we went walking down the Ann Arbor Main Street, and trying to convince Nadia to get her own crocs sandals, she finally did, we returned the U of M crocs sandals and get the pink ones and orange flowers on it. Now, she wants to wear them.
Then we headed to Domino's Farm... very big farm not too far away and we just had a blast to be there. She also made friends with Alexandra, another 3 year old, a sweet little girl.

Strolling in the Park

It was a beautiful day today. We decided to skip nap and strolled to our favourite park, walking in the forest along the Huron River. Wonderful afternoon. Nadia was so happy being out and play in the playground.

Her drawings

Morning time, I am so curious how Nadia got so quiet in the office room with her daddy. I went to see her, she was busy drawing next to Ammar who was working on the patients' files.

After a while, I went to check again, she was out already, playing in the family room. Ammar showed me all the drawings she made, she drew on 10 pages of paper, her drawing were gradually improved. She tried to draw people and she succeed.

I took the pictures of them, and threw away those papers, Nadia caught me in action and she asked me : "Why are you throwing the drawings, Mommy ?"
Me : "Because I took the pictures from them and I will keep them in my heart forever!"
Nadia : (smiling) "Okay...."

Ran out of battery

Nadia played with her car, and it ran out of battery. The superman daddy pushed the car, letting her inside the car because he just loves her too much :)

Today's note from school

"This week was "The Arctic". Nadia used the globe to locate where Arctic is. A lamp was used to pretend the sunlight and the globe was moved around to show why it is called "The Land of Midnight Sun". Nadia went ice skating using paper plates, made Polar Bears with cotton, igloo foam cups. Nadia read book about "Penguins and Polar Bears".
Nadia talks a lot about her imaginationary 2 ponies. Made igloo cake from carrots and had it for pm snack."

California Roll

I noticed that Nadia loves Japanese food, but today, I made california roll (yes, it has been too long I haven't made it), and she just ate 3 pieces of them, which I thought it is something nice. Yeah, no hotdogs, chicken nuggets anymore!!!

Something funny from Zoe, Nadia's friend

I can't help to steal the note from Sara, Zoe's mom. Here page is attached to Nadia's blog, if you are interested more to read about them.

"Yesterday, my mother bought four pairs of shoes...two for Zoe and two for Georgie. They each got a new pair of crocs (both navy blue, but Zoe's are mary janes), and a pair of Keen sandal/shoes (George got bliue and Zoe got lavender).

When I brought them home Zoe was excited to open the bag and check out their new gear. Although Zoe wanted them all for herself, we set Georgie's aside (they are a size too small for Zoe, but she would try to cram her feet into them anyhow).

Zoe tried on the Keens first.

"These are just like Nadia's shoes!"

I can't believe that she can recognize such things. Nadia goes to school with Zoe, and is the daughter of my friend Sari. However, Zoe has only seen Nadia wear these shoes three times, so I'm amazed and frightened that she made such a mental note.

She walked around in the shoes for a few minutes before declaring "these are riding shoes, for driving my truck!"

I'm not sure what the criteria are for truck driving shoes, but these apparently fit the bill. She's usually barefoot when she "drives".

She then tried on her new mary jane's. After prancing around the living room for a second she said "These shoes are good for goin' shoppin'"

Ah, she's her mother's girl.........."

Comment for Sara : "Zoe will love those keen shoes. Nadia just got the second pair. She still loves them."

Mango Girl

Nadia has always been a mango girl since she was 3 months old. She could finish one big mango, but can't finish her own regular meal. (off the record : her mommy used to be one and an expert of picking the great mangoes, as she always said : "When I see mangoes, I know it which one is good just like finding your soulmate).

At a party

It was one of those times when you see your daughter, looks so mature. She was watching TV together with other kids at Ammar's friend's birthday party. The sun rays from the window in that room towards her french braides hair made me capture that moment. It looks like that I took a sephia colored photo.

Today's note from school

"Nadia learned about "rainforest" this week. Read books and stories about it. Crocodile is the one she enjoyed most of all. Colored pictures and made a rainforest and animal decorative string. She talked about her dreams after quiet time. It was so interesting : "Monster is eating her shoes and the horse saving her brother, mommy, and daddy. She helped mix all ingredients to the sunflower seeds and ate it up for snack."

New toothbrush

We spent good time at the supermarket today, Aidan, me, Ammar and his little princess, Nadia.
As we promised her, we stopped at the toothbrushes section since she has been asking for the powered toothbrush Ammar and I both use everytime. We tried to convinced her to get the Oral B ones, but she loves Dora ones which made by Colgate, so we got Dora one.

Before bed, she excitedly trying the new toothbrush, of course, after she spent time 4 minutes in front of the mirror brushing her teeth, I brushed her teeth, too. It tickles her ans she laughed and said it's tickle.
Nadia asked me to brush her self again... I let her...
She enjoyed the tooth brush, when she brushed her top teeth, she said to me : "MY BRAIN IS SHAKING!!!"

Future physician ?

Ammar was working on his patients' notes in his office room and I was taking care of Aidan upstairs. When I came down, Ammar told me what happened.

He told Nadia who was playing in his office room that his stomach was hurting. She went out, and came back with a specific medicine, anti acid and a cup of water (she couldn't reach the real glass, she got her own plastic cup from her drawer in the kitchen).
No, she didn't give him tylenol as she usually got him.
He asked me whether I taught her, apparently not. I think she just observed what Ammar has been taking.

Sometimes she told me that she wanted to be a doctor like Daddy.

Conversations

Daddy has been having hard time teaching one of the fellow and he spent too much time fixing up his patients' note, so he lost his temper today to Nadia, he screamed at her when she spilled her food at dinner time.
Me : "Daddy, you don't scream at her like that. It's not a big deal that deserves that kind of yelling. We don't scream in this house."
Ammar : (whoops, it's just came out uncontrolled) "I am so sorry Nadia, I screamed at you."
Nadia : (crying)
Ammar, came to Nadia, gave her big kisses and hugs, and put her in his lap together with Aidan, and kept telling her how sorry he was.
Nadia : (stop crying) "Daddy, I am so sad that you screamed at me"
Ammar : "I am so sorry, Nadia. I told you already I was sorry"
Nadia : "Say it again, daddy."
Me : (laughing)

After bath, Ammar teased Nadia about getting a new daddy.
Ammar : "Nadia, do you think you want a new daddy who doesn't lose his temper ?"
Nadia : "Yes"
Ammar : "Do you know where you can get a new daddy ?"
Nadia : "At the store!!!"

Ammar : "or maybe I should get a new daughter at the store, too ?"
Nadia : No, daddy, please don't get a new child.
Ammar : "Why, Nadia ?
Nadia : "I don't want you to get another child. I will miss my daddy and mommy"
Nadia : "Ugh daddy, I am sad that you are going to put me in the store and you get another child"
Ammar : "Haha, nadia, I will never replace you with another child, I love you too much. Besides, you don't sell people at the stores."

A little manicurist

Nadia had her nail done and I wanted to take the polish out. Nadia insisted that she would help me. She spent a good 30 minutes to wipe the polish. Very diligent and determine little girl. BTW, she did a wonderful job. I got a little bit of a spa from my little girl before going to bed, my finger nails are clean, so do my toe nails.

Excuse

Nadia woke up from nap and we sat down together in the family room. Nadia found a plush zebra which was not hers.
Nadia : "Mommy, someone left this zebra in our house, whose is this ?"
Me : "Oh no, Bella forgot her zebra."
Nadia : "Oh, Bella will be sad, mommy, it's a nice zebra."
Me : "I know, next time we see them again, we will bring it to her."
Nadia : "I miss Bella, mommy."
Me : "Don't worry, we will play with her soon"
Nadia : "Hey, Mommy. How about if you drive me to Bella's house, give the zebra to her, then we can go home again ? Is that a good idea ?"
Me : (laughing, knowing that it's her excuse to have another playdate today) "That's a good idea, but only one problem. I have not prepared dinner yet. Daddy will come home soon. We need to eat."
Nadia : "Oh, pickles!!" (she got this from Higglytown heroes at Disney channels"

Playing together

It's summer. It's fun. I love to cook and prepare playdates, so we invited Bella and Middy over for playdate at our house.
You can tell how those 2 little monkeys having fun. Bella is a 5.5 year old girl whom Nadia adores so much. They have blast in and outside the house. Driving, playing with sprinkle system, playground and the upside down tent...

Baby sitter

It is our first time having baby sitter for both of the kids. The baby sitter was Nadia's old teacher from her old school who loves Nadia so much. It's been a long time that Nadia has not seen her. She came to see the baby, too.

We went to the farewell party of one of the physician who left for another job. It's been a loooong time we have not spent our time just 2 of us. So funny how we missed them so much at the party.
We came back home at 9.30 pm and found out Nadia still not sleeping, waiting for us, then she just cuddling with us in the sun room. We really missed the kiddos!!!
We agreed that nothing is fun anymore without the kids around.

3 turns 14 y.o

It's no school day. I put Nadia on just a shirt and jeans, put the pony tail on her. Something amazed me, she looked like a teenager.
I couldn't stand not to pick the camera while she was busy drawing.

Nadia, after a while being taken pictures of, she said : "Mommy, stop taking pictures!"

Sunglasses

Nadia always lost her sunglasses somewhere. I bought her a pair of cool sunglasses, pink ones as she requested, she loved them so much, then after a while I have never seen it anywhere, so she is using the green older sunglasses which are always in daddy's car until today, so bright and sunny, Nadia asked me where her sunglasses are.

Me : "Nadia, you have to take care of your sunglasses. I found your green sunglasses again after you lost them. You put them in your cubby at school and you don't remember. I found them. See ? Next time you have to keep the glasses in the car all the time."
Nadia : "But, mommy. I love the pink ones. Where is it ?"
Me : "I don't know. Where did you put them ?"
Nadia : "I don't know, but you can find them, mommy. You know where they are, Mommy."
Me : "I don't know Nadia, Did I wear them ?"
Nadia : "No.... "
Me : "Did you wear them ?"
Nadia : "Yes, I did."
Me : "See ? I don't wear them, so I don;t know where you put them. You wore them, you should know where you put them."
Nadia : "That's okay, Mommy. We can buy the new pink sunglasses."
Me : "I could buy them, but we have to save some money to buy another pair."
Nadia : "I have money. We can buy a pair from chuckee cheese's money!!!"

Minty bubble gum

I picked Nadia from school today. She asked for candy. I told her I don't have candy in the car, but I have bubble gum. She said yes, so I gave it to her, warning her that she can only chew it, not eating it...
She loves it, she kept chewing it until we got home, even when she got a bath... until she finished bathing, she told me that her teeth hurt.. (I think her jaw hurts.. haha).. I took the gum away from her..
I am so proud, my little girl can eat gum and she follows instructions very well.

Toothpaste

Nadia : "I want more toothpaste, Daddy"
Daddy : "Nadia, do you like your toothpaste ?"
Nadia : "Yes, Daddy, I want more.. it tastes like candy"
Daddy : "Is it sweet ?"
Nadia : "Yeah!"
Daddy : "Do you want the big kid toothpaste ?"
Nadia : "No, Daddy, I like my little girl toothpaste"
Daddy : "You cannot eat that nadia, but the little girl toothpaste, you can."
Nadia : "Why ?"
Daddy : "Because it has fluoride, they one you have now doesn't have fluoride"
Nadia : "Why, Daddy ? Mommy gives me Fluoride all the time"
Daddy : surprise.... (Nadia remembers she always get fluride tiny tablet from me)

Helping

After the "Curious George" episode, the TV played the war in Iraq. Nadia watched it and she saw the soldiers, fire, bombing, etc. She ran to me, who was preparing dinner, and histerically said : "Mommy, is that fire ? Mommy, look, we have to help them, let's go with the plane and help the people.. let's go, Mom... Now!!!"

Very very sad

My mother and my sister went back home to Indonesia 2 days ago, since yesterday Nadia has been so cranky. Anything to make her cry, she would cry big deal. Today, Aidan and I picked her up from school a bit early, she was so happy because at school she found a frog and played with it, then I sent her right away to the bath tub, she was still happy until she broke the candy cane.. she cried for 30 minutes.... it's not usually her, she cried out loud, and of course, the baby started to cry, too, until I said to them (after 30 minutes) : "Hey, the rule is only one person can cry!!" Amazingly, both of them stopped crying. I came again to Nadia (had been checking her 6 times and she was not done crying yet), and she said this time she was done.
Oh well.. she was happy back when I jokingly talked about how silly she was, crying over a piece of candy.

The main reason : "Nadia is so sad, she missed my mother and my sister so much!"
I missed them terribly, so I can understand that a 3 year old cannot coupe with her sadness.

New car

2 days before my mother left, My mother bought Nadia and Aidan a battery car, the high end of Fisher Price 12 volts battery... Nadia enjoyed the very moment she drove it. She was so serious and happy, she loves Cars.. and knowing she can drive, it's priceless.
Thank you so much, Mom. If I have to wait for Ammar buying this car for her, she will be in high school already... hahah.. it's so much money for us to spend for this toy. To count that every year you have to spend at least 10 grand trip to visit our family, not including our own vacation.. we have to be pretty stiff on the toys.. hahaha.
It is so funny how my mom still loves to buy me (now my children) stuffs. Guess that's how she enjoys her money, to see how happy we are with her present. Love you so much, Mom. I will miss you, too.

Flower girls

Went for a playdate with Bella, a 5 year old, Nadia's best friend. They got flowers from the gardener at the Matthei Botanical Garden U of Michigan, and they just loved them.

Big day for Bella

We had a wonderful time at Matthei Botanical Garden. It has been a long time since Nadia played with Bella, her best friend. We just went back from vacation. I remember they left a message on my cell on my birthday saying that Bella had a loose tooth... wow... great Bella.
It turned out that after the playdate, we ate lunch together, Middy, Bella's mom dared Bella to take her tooth out.. she did it... It was a very very nice moment there. I got the camera and took some picture, and to watch Nadia looked at Bella's mouth is PRICELESS!

Itchy ?

After Daddy left for tennis tonight, we sat outside watching Mommy Froggy (my sister, Fina) driving the tractor cutting the grass in the backyard. It rained suddenly, so we went inside then started to prepare dinner. Change of menu, since Ammar is not dining with us, we cooked corned beef egg omelet and Sari made yummy yummy udon dishes. Nadia ate so much of the noodle and said : "I LOVE noodles."
Then my sister said to me : "Can you itch my back ? Right there, she pointed out."
I itched her, then in a minute it's done.
We didn't realize that Nadia observed the event until she said something : "Mommy froggy, are you itchy because you didn't take a bath ?"
We all laugh, realizing that the only person who took an afternoon bath today was Nadia.

Best time of her life

Nadia had the best time in her life today. She woke up this morning, finding out that her "mommy froggy" (my sister, Fina) woke her up. She jumped up and hugged her and said : "Mommy Froggy!!!!!" She played with her the whole morning while Ammar and I finished up the flower beds around the house... then we cooked for the guests who wanted to come to see my mother and my sister. This guests are Swedish American family who used to live in Medan (Sumatera, Indonesia) in 1958. They had the whole world living there, and when they met us at one of the fair, we became friends. The loved the food, and they missed the food so much, we made some Indonesian dishes and they brought the deserts (yummy....!). Auntie Lisa and Uncle Bill also came from Bay City, my sister brought her some stuff left from Indonesia. Nadia had so much fun playing with auntie Lisa, Uncle Bill, Barbara (the daughter who is now a 6th grade teacher) read the books for her, and she enjoyed the gifts she got from the couple as well.
Nadia was in heaven for the whole day. She had so much fun and she looked so cute today, wearing the dress my other sister sent from Indonesia.
PS : No nap today, too!!!

Get ready to get embarassed

I promised Nadia after she took a nap, we will go out to have ice cream downtown. While she was sleeping, I went to cut the grass with the tractor. I looked at my mom's bedroom window, I saw Nadia waving bye bye, I went inside, asking why Nadia was not sleeping. She told me she saw a bug in her room. I went inside her room and she pointed out where she saw the bug. I saw a carpenter ant on one of her chair, I killed it and took it out. I sent Nadia to bed again, and she slept, for real.

We went to the ice cream parlor, eat yummy ice cream and she saw a father with a pony tail, she (which has 2 ponytails today) pointed out on him and said : "Look mommy! He has ponytail. I have ponytail, too, but my daddy doesn't have ponytail like he does." Oh no...

Then we went to the playground next to the fire house, she saw the firetrucks, then played on the playground. She instantly make friends with a 5 year old girl, Alex. She played with her as if she is her bestfriend for life.
She came to the playground with her baby brother, a 6 months old, and her mom and dad. I told her that she is a big sister too and has a baby brother, too. Nadia was so happy that she also a big sister and has baby brother.

They played on the swing, and the mother (who is very obese) pushed her daughter. Nadia watched them and told me (I was pushing her swing, too) : "Mommy, the mother is very big, and Alex is big, too (Alex is obese,too, but not as bad as her mother).

I got panic, I was frightened that they heard her... I whispered to Nadia : "Nadia, you cannot say something like that. It is not nice... okay ?"

thanks God, she got it right away... and stop talking about it...

Oh boy, oh boy... oh boy.. She is so observant and so smart... I should be careful, I think next time I will be so embarassed... just wait..
